GREENWICH, Conn., January 14, 1997 -- Tenneco announced today that its board
of directors has scheduled the corporation's annual meeting of shareowners
for 10:30 a.m. (central time), Tuesday May 13, 1997 at First Chicago Center,
One First National Plaza, in Chicago, Ill. The record date for shareowners to vote at the meeting is March 14, 1997.
Tenneco is a global manufacturing company based in Greenwich, Conn., with
projected 1997 sales of more than $7 billion. The company has operations
in automotive parts (Tenneco Automotive) and packaging (Tenneco Packaging).
