GREENWICH, Conn., January 14, 1997 -- Tenneco announced today that its board of directors has scheduled the corporation's annual meeting of shareowners for 10:30 a.m. (central time), Tuesday May 13, 1997 at First Chicago Center, One First National Plaza, in Chicago, Ill.

The record date for shareowners to vote at the meeting is March 14, 1997.
