Navigant Consulting Announces Joel L. Singer as CEO of Its Energy & Water Business
CHICAGO, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI)
today announced that Joel L. Singer has joined the firm as Chief Executive
Officer of its Energy & Water business, with responsibilities for this
business' 350 employees in 33 offices. The move is part of re-positioning the
company to significantly accelerate the growth of its management consulting
business in the global energy and water industries.
Mr. Singer is the former President and co-CEO of Bay State Gas / Northern
Utilities, one of the leaders of energy deregulation in the United States.
Prior to joining Bay State, Mr. Singer was a Director in the Worldwide Energy
practice of Arthur D. Little, Inc., an international management and technology
consulting firm, and he also spent ten years with Exxon Corporation in their
natural gas and refining departments, with increasing managerial
responsibilities. Mr. Singer is founder and Chairman of Boston Digital LLC, a
developer of customer relationship management software for energy companies.
Mr. Singer has also been serving as President of Boston Management Resources,
Inc., which Navigant Consulting has agreed to acquire in conjunction with his
joining the firm.
William M. Goodyear, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Navigant
Consulting, said: "With the addition of Joel's vision, executive experience
and recognized thought leadership in the energy industry, we will be
accelerating our focus on the growing demand for executive-level management
consulting for energy companies facing major changes as a result of on-going
deregulation, which is resulting in an increasing pace of mergers and
acquisitions, strategic restructurings and complicated litigation."
According to Samuel K. Skinner, a member of Navigant Consulting's Board of
Directors, current Chairman and CEO of US Freightways, and formerly President
of Commonwealth Edison Company, one of the nation's largest electric
utilities: "The dramatic changes in the energy industry are requiring a
re-thinking of energy policies by both government and corporations. At this
time when the energy industry is undergoing such enormous change, we are very
excited about Joel joining the executive team of Navigant Consulting, with his
combined experiences in management consulting and corporate leadership."
Navigant Consulting is one of the leading management consulting firms in
the energy industry, and for its clients, it has managed many of the largest
electric generating assets divestitures in recent history.
According to Mr. Singer: "I have always had tremendous respect for
Navigant Consulting's deep industry knowledge in the energy and water
industries, and look forward to joining this talented team of professionals,
particularly at a time of such great business growth prospects in these
dramatically changing industries."
Robert C. Yardley, Jr., the Executive Managing Director of the Energy &
Water practice since January 2000, led the realignment of the practice to
better meet the needs of a restructured industry, and will now focus his
efforts on leveraging the firm's intellectual capital and the leadership of
regulatory policy and strategy assignments. Prior to joining Navigant
Consulting, Mr. Yardley served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of
Public Utilities, with responsibilities for the regulation of electricity,
natural gas, water, and transportation industries.
