Fifth Street Finance Corp. Receives Recognition for 2011 "Senior Lender of the Year" and "Dealmaker of the Year"
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jun 27, 2011 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Fifth Street Finance Corp. (NYSE:FSC) ("Fifth Street") is pleased to announce that it has earned 2011 "Senior Lender of the Year" and "Dealmaker of the Year" distinctions from ACG (Association for Corporate Growth) and The M&A Advisor.
Fifth Street received the news during the inaugural Champion Awards ceremony -- a collaboration between the ACG New York chapter and The M&A Advisor designed to recognize the best deals and dealmakers in the mergers and acquisitions industry. The event was held at Sotheby's on June 20, 2011.
"We are delighted to accept these honors, particularly in light of the finalists," said Bernard Berman, Fifth Street's President, adding, "to be recognized as Senior Lender of the Year from among firms like Citibank and Golub Capital is an incredible honor. It is a testimony to the significant steps we have undertaken to continually satisfy the needs of our private equity sponsors."
Having closed over $327.6 million in deals since January 1, 2011, Fifth Street is having an active year. As the firm pointed out in its June 2011 Newsletter, it is securing deals from both new sponsors and existing relationships alike. A recently-established Chicago office has also proved valuable.
Also that evening, Partner Casey Zmijeski, who joined the organization in 2009 as an originator, was singled out as one of the industry's top dealmakers. Fifth Street's Chief Executive Officer, Leonard Tannenbaum, noted, "Casey demonstrates a unique capacity for understanding a sponsor's long-term vision. He has dramatically expanded Fifth Street's network of relationships with leading middle market sponsors by consistently delivering creative, flexible solutions."
Roger Aguinaldo, Chief Executive Officer of The M&A Advisor, added, "Casey is a consummate professional who has cultivated a highly-regarded reputation among top-tier private equity firms. His dedication, hard work and exemplary leadership skills make him truly deserving of this award."
An independent body of experts who represent a cross-section of the middle market industry judged the finalists' deals, dealmakers and firms. To qualify, the finalists' transactions had to close between April 1, 2010 and March 30, 2011 and be over $5 million in transaction value.
