Colorado Interstate Gas Announces Open Season HOUSTON, TEXAS, June 28, 2001—Colorado Interstate Gas, a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EPG),
announced today an open season that began at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time on June 26,
2001 and will continue until 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time on July 20, 2001 for a
pipeline project to transport gas from the Cheyenne Hub in northeastern Colorado
to mid-continent pipeline markets near Greensburg, Kansas. Colorado
Interstate Gas proposes to construct 380 miles of 30-inch diameter pipeline
and 17,000 horsepower of compression, designed to transport up to 540,000 dekatherms
per day.
The project accesses all the Rocky Mountain supply basins
via its pipeline affiliates Colorado Interstate Gas and Wyoming Interstate
Company at the Cheyenne Hub. The company has planned interconnects near
Greensburg with ANR, Panhandle Pipeline, Northern Natural Gas, Natural Gas
Pipeline Company, and Williams with an estimated take-away capacity of
approximately 6.8 billion cubic feet per day. The pipeline will be routed
by Colorado Interstate Gas's market area storage in the Fort Morgan area.
Access to the Front Range markets could also be provided if there is sufficient
interest. Colorado Interstate Gas has completed the environmental,
archeological, and right-of-way survey work required for a Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission filing to be completed in October and anticipates this new
pipeline project will be in service in late 2003. Customers interested in
the project are invited to submit an offer for firm transportation. Please
contact Craig Coombs at 719-520-4387 or Laine Lobban at 719-520-4344 for
additional information.
