Rogers Communications Inc.
Rogers Communications is Canada's national communications company which is
engaged in cable television, high-speed Internet access and video retailing
through Rogers Cable Inc; Digital PCS, cellular, data communications and messaging
through Rogers Wireless Communications Inc; and radio, television broadcasting,
tele-shopping and publishing businesses through Rogers Media Inc. Rogers Wireless
Communications Inc. owns 100% of Rogers Wireless Inc. that operates under the
co-brand Rogers AT&T Wireless.
Rogers Cable is Canada's largest cable television service provider with over
2.3 million customers in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland. Rogers Cable
is a leading North American provider of high-speed Internet access via cable
modem with 500,000 customers. Its fiber-rich network currently has over 87%
two-way transmission capability. Rogers Cable also owns and operates 263 Rogers
Video Stores.
Rogers AT&T Wireless is Canada's leading national wireless communications
service provider offering subscribers a broad spectrum of wireless communications
products and services. With almost 3.5 million wireless customers, its seamless
cellular network covers 93% of the Canadian population with analog coverage
and 92% of the population with GSM/GPRS.
Rogers Media operates Rogers Broadcasting and Rogers Publishing. Rogers Broadcasting
currently has 43 AM and FM radio stations across Canada. Television properties
include Toronto multicultural television broadcaster CFMT, newly licensed CFMT
too, electronic retailer, the Shopping Channel, regional sports channel, Rogers
Sportsnet and the management of three digital television services. Rogers Publishing
produces many well-known consumer magazines such as Maclean's, Chatelaine, Flare,
L'actualité, Canadian Business and is the leading publisher of a number
of trade publications. All media properties are integrated with their own popular
web sites.
Edward S. Rogers currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer and
is the company's controlling shareholder. Rogers Cable Inc. and Rogers Media
Inc. are wholly owned subsidiaries of Rogers Communications Inc. Rogers Wireless
Communications Inc., is approximately 56% owned by Rogers Communications Inc.
and approximately 34% owned by AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. with the remaining
approximately 10% owned by the public.
Rogers' Class A voting and Class B non-voting shares trade on the Toronto Stock
Exchange under the RCI.A and RCI.B tickers, respectively, and the Class B non-voting
shares also trade on the New York Stock Exchange, under the RG ticker. Rogers
Wireless Communications Class B Restricted Voting Shares are traded on the Toronto
Stock Exchange under the RCM.B ticker and on the New York Stock Exchange under
the RCN ticker.
