What does FTI do?
  FTI Consulting, Inc. is a global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations protect and enhance enterprise value in an increasingly complex legal, regulatory and economic environment. With more than 3,400 employees located in most major business centers in the world, we work closely with clients every day to anticipate, illuminate, and overcome complex business challenges in areas such as investigations, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, reputation management and restructuring.
What are FTI's main businesses?
 

The Company operates through five main segments:

  • Forensic and Litigation Consulting - Our forensic/litigation consulting practice provides an extensive range of services to assist clients in all phases of investigation and litigation, including pre-filing, discovery, jury selection, trial preparation, expert testimony and other trial support services.
  • Technology - Provides services, products and consulting focusing on the collection, preservation, review and production of electronically stored information (ESI). ESI includes e-mail, computer files, voicemail, instant messaging or transactional data stored on a computer.
  • Corporate Finance/Restructuring Consulting - Focuses on businesses’ strategic, operational, financial and capital needs. This segment provides turnaround, performance improvement, lending solutions, financial and operational restructuring, restructuring advisory, mergers and acquisitions, transaction advisory and interim management services. It analyzes, recommends and implements strategic alternatives for its corporate finance/restructuring clients.
  • Economic Consulting – Delivers sophisticated economic analysis, modeling, advice and testimony related to issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, antitrust and competition and other complex commercial and securities litigation. The segment’s professionals regularly provide expert testimony on damages, rates and prices, valuations, merger effects, intellectual property disputes in antitrust and anti-competition cases, regulatory proceedings and business valuations.
  • Strategic and Financial Communications Consulting - Provides advice and consulting services related to financial communications, brand communications, public affairs, issues management and business consulting. Consulting and communications services include strategic boardroom advice, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, financial and business media relations, capital markets intelligence, initial public offerings, corporate restructuring, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and regulatory communications.

  We are a trusted advisor working for the world's leading law firms, corporations and financial institutions. We service a blue-chip client list of corporations, legal firms and financial services companies. Our clients include 95 of the Am Law 100 firms, nine of the 10 largest bank holding companies, and 79 of the Fortune 100 companies. In addition, we also serve a broad range of federal, state and local government agencies.

  Our business is highly competitive. Our competitors range from large organizations, such as the national accounting firms and the large management consulting companies that offer a broad range of consulting services, to small firms and independent contractors that provide one specialized service.

  As of March 31, 2010, total headcount was 3,399, of which 2,585 represented revenue-generating professionals.
How many offices does the Company have and where are they located?
  The FTI network is truly global in scope and we have a presence in all the major financial centers in the world. As of December 31, 2009, we had operations across 35 U.S. cities, as well as 21 outside the U.S. in the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Russia, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panamá, Canada, and the British Virgin Islands.
Does FTI have an acquisition strategy?
  Along with solid organic growth, acquisitions have always been a part of FTI's growth strategy. The Company pursues a highly selective acquisition program, pursuing those opportunities that enhance the execution of FTI's strategy.

  The Company's fiscal year ends on December 31.
When does FTI report its earnings?
  It announces its year end financial results approximately the beginning of March. First, second and third quarter earnings are announced in early May, August and November, respectively.
